Football Game a Go for West Deptford

The quarterfinal game will go on as planned after a nearby train derailment caused a hazmat scare in Paulsboro.

Friday’s train derailment in Paulsboro won’t derail the West Deptford vs. Woodstown playoff football game this evening.

The Eagles will host the Wolverines in a 7 p.m. matchup at West Deptford High School. While the train derailment sent Paulsboro High School into lockdown and prompted West Deptford schools to shelter in place for a time, it was never a threat to tonight’s game.

On paper, the Eagles come out ahead of Woodstown. The Eagles enter Friday’s game undefeated this season, compared to the Wolverines’ 7-3 record. While No. 1 seed West Deptford smashed Sterling to advance to the semifinal game, No. 5 Woodstown barely snuck by Haddon Heights.

The winner of tonight’s game will play the winner of the Willingboro vs. Cedar Creek game for the South Jersey, Group 2 championship.
