Grab and Go Kids Planner: Go Green, Celebrate Sendak or Rock Out

Watch a theatrical skate show, enter the School House of Rock, tour the NJ woods during equinox, or learn about Maurice Sendak in a fun way.

Spring is finally here, even if it might not feel that way. Get your family out with some of these festive and educational events!

Wisscapades Around the World

  • Where/When: Wissahickon Skating Club–550 West Willow Grove Ave., Philadelphia, PA. The show begins at 7:30 on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19.
  • What’s Going On: For two nights only, the Wissahickon Skating Club will be transformed into a magical theatrical show with over 150 skaters performing! Witness competitive youth skaters Emmanuel Savary and Kirsten Seagers, the synchronized skating team Philadelphia Symmetry, the dance team of Baxter Burbank and Katharine Zeigler and much more.
  • Pricing: $15 adults, $10 ages 4-12. $65 Silver Patron–reserved bleacher seating; includes open bar and refreshments before show and during intermission in Muehlbronner Lounge, and $85 Gold Patron–seating in Muehlbronner Lounge; includes open bar and refreshments before show and during intermission

  • Where/When: Rosenbach Museum and Library–2008 Delancey Pl., Philadelphia, PA. Noon-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20
  • What’s Going On: Celebrate the works of famed children’s author Maurice Sendak at the Rosenbach Museum and Library. Enjoy 3D audience based storytelling complete with costumes and silliness. At 1 and 3 p.m. the Wild Things Whirlygig show puts classic Sendak characters in an interactive show set to the music that inspired the author. Learn about world instruments or create a 3-D book! Registration for the Whirlygig performance is required.

 School House Rock!

  • Where/When: The Broadway Theatre of Pitman- 43 S. Broadway St., Pitman. Friday, March 18 at 10 a.m and 12:15 p.m. and Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: The Broadway Theatre of Pitman brings this Saturday morning cartoon classic to life on stage! Rock out to favorites like "I’m Just a Bill," "Unpack Your Adjectives" and "Conjunction Junction" in this interactive, educational musical.

  • What’s Going On: Join the camp’s resident naturalists to discover the coming signs of Spring in the heart of a New Jersey forest. Find out what the equinox really means for us and for nature.

 Go Green at Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center

  • Where/When: Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center–1 Boathouse Row, Philadelphia, PA. Saturday, March 19 from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Experience one of Fairmount Water Works Interpretive Center’s “Science Saturdays” and learn about the impact you have on your environment with activities for the whole family. Families can get down and dirty with interactive experiments in their state-of-the-art lab as they learn about pollution and waste. The FWWIC will also be showing a free Matinee of the documentary The 11th Hour every Sunday in March from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
