Rosters have been announced for the Annual Adam Taliaferro Foundation/South Jersey Football Coaches Association Blue-White All-Star Classic and one West Deptford High School player will have the honor of participating in the prestigious game.
Defensive lineman Josh Roane was selected to the White team and will join some of the top players from across the West Jersey Football League and Colonial Conference. Roane was an integral part of a West Deptford team that won its fifth Group 2 state title in program history this past December.
The game is slated for Thursday, June 28, at Rowan University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
A former standout two-way back at Eastern High in Voorhees, Taliaferro was paralyzed while making a tackle for Penn State in a game at Ohio State in 2000. After spinal-fusion surgery, three different doctors told Adam’s parents their son would probably never walk again.
Three months later, the miracle was completed. Adam walked out of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. He continues to thrive today as a practicing attorney and motivational speaker, and is a member of the Gloucester County freeholder board.
All proceeds from the game go to the Adam Taliaferro Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to not only provide financial but emotional support for victims of spinal cord injuries and education to treat and prevent future injuries.
