Mother of Slain GA Toddler Also Lost Son in 2008 West Deptford Stabbing

Sherry West's toddler son was fatally shot when two teens tried to rob her at gunpoint in Georgia Thursday. Her 18-year-old son died five years ago in a West Deptford stabbing.

Nearly five years to the day Sherry West lost a son to violence in West Deptford, another child of hers died tragically, this time in southeastern Georgia.

Sherry West told authorities a teenager trying to rob her at gunpoint Thursday morning asked, "Do you want me to kill your baby?" before he fatally shot her 13-month-old son, Antonio, in the head in Brunswick, GA, the Huffington Post reports

The teen was with a younger accomplice, said West, whose left ear was grazed by a bullet in the shooting.

Two teens—17-year-old De’marquis Elkins and an unnamed 14-year-old—were arrested on murder charges Friday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Brunswick is a coastal town in southeastern Georgia, about 30 miles north of the Florida border.

On March 11, 2008, West's 18-year-old son, Shaun Glassey, died after being stabbed in an incident near Red Bank and Shields avenues in West Deptford.

Glassey was part of a group of teens who lured a 17-year-old boy to the spot in order to attack him, authorities said. Glassey was armed with a steak knife, which the boy managed to grab from Glassey. As the boy flailed the knife for protection, it struck Glassey in the upper left torso.

The boy was not charged in Glassey's death, because authorities determined he acted in self defense.

Four teens involved in the incident were charged with simple assault.

Barbara,
Two teens were arrested on Friday for her son's death & trying to kill her as well. The suspects are only 17 & 14 years of age. It's just unthinkable! I can not believe what this woman is going thru right now. To not only lose one son to senseless violence, then she now has lost another so tragically. It's indeed so very sad.
