Patch 101: Write a Letter to the Editor
Sound off on West Deptford issues with a letter to the editor.
Have something to say on a town issue? Want to thank your neighbors for something? Care to take a political stance? Write West Deptford Patch a letter to the editor.
West Deptford Patch accepts letters to the editor on any issue important to our readers. While there are plenty of ways to share your viewpoint—in the comments or by starting a Patch blog, for example—a letter to the editor is an easy way to make your opinion heard.
Type up your letter—try to keep it to less than 500 words—and send it off us at westdeptford@patch.com. Easy as pie.
A few things to keep in mind:
1. Include your name, town and email address in case we need to verify your identity. Only your name and town will be published.
2. Put “Letter to the editor” in the subject line of your email so we don’t miss it.
3. Remember you can write letters that rebut other opinions you see on Patch, just make sure you reference the original post so readers know what you’re talking about.

The Patch has now added legitimacy by requiring a real, rather than fictional, name when submitting comments. This will eliminate the ranting, raving and politically motivated writers as well as the comic relief.

I don't mind comic relief, truly I don't. But I don't agree that in the kind of political climate that West Deptford has right now that there's room for blind personal attacks. Trying to knit my bit for that atmosphere.

Logically intact, but your premise is flawed. Not interested in backbiting, and I think I'm on the record plenty on that. And our goal for the site is for it to be a service, not a lampoon. Plus, what advertiser wants to be linked to a site that's only known for negativity?
You've heard me say this plenty of times: our mission is to be a voice of the community and to be an asset to residents of West Deptford. We're not after scandal and griping. There are plenty of places for that on the internet.
That said, we have to look to the users of the site to work with us to make it a better experience for everyone...so if you're dissatisfied with the level of discourse around here, ask what you're doing to elevate it.
