RiverWinds Promotes Fitness with 'March Abness'
The community center offers 30-day workout challenge, along with other fitness tips throughout the month.
While it may not be time to break out those bathing suits just yet, summer is right around the corner, and with it, comes the wish to shed some extra pounds just like layers of winter clothing.
Kicking-off last Friday, RiverWinds’ March Abness is all about fitness with a 30-day program focusing on core strengthening, cardio and nutrition.
With calendars available online and at the RiverWinds Community Center, those who wish to participate simply follow the workout regimen specified for each day of the week. Demonstrations of the exercises listed for each day can be found on the RiverWinds website, along with inspirational quotes, nutrition tips and weekly cardio information. Every Monday, the RiverWinds website will update with the new exercises and tips for the week.
Along with getting in shape, those who follow March Abness from day one also have a chance to score a free one hour personal training session at the community center. Those who wish to enter the contest should take a picture of themselves or videotape themselves planking on both March 1 and March 31. The top three video and photo submissions will then be chosen by members of the community center and announced on Friday, April 5. Registration for the contest is not required.
All photos and videos must be submitted to Fitness Program Coordinator Mandee Casey no later than Friday, April 1, to be eligible for a prize.
Missed the first week of March Abness? No worries.
Anyone who is looking to tone up can still follow the daily workouts for fun. Those following for fun, should not send in video or pictures, but simply track their progress and record results for themselves. In addition, those following for fun will not be eligible to win a prize.
