Ryan Moore Pleads Guilty in Deptford Pizza Delivery Driver Stickup

Moore admitted holding up a pizza delivery driver with a plastic gun in May 2011.

A Deptford man who held up a pizza delivery driver with a toy gun last year pleaded guilty to armed robbery and drug charges Monday and now faces five years in state prison.

Ryan N. Moore, 20, of Deptford Avenue in Deptford, admitted in court to brandishing a plastic gun, which fell into pieces during the robbery, when he forced the delivery driver to hand over cash in the May 5, 2011, incident.

Despite the fact that it was a toy gun, Moore, when questioned by Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Dana Anton, said he had used it to intimidate the driver, who fled unharmed, putting the victim “in fear of immediate bodily injury with what appeared to be a deadly weapon.”

An eyewitness identified Moore, who was arrested the same day as the robbery and was also charged with cocaine possession, which he claimed was for personal use.

As a result of the guilty plea, Anton will recommend a five-year sentence on the first-degree armed robbery charge, to be served concurrently with a three-year sentence for cocaine possession. Moore, who currently remains in the county jail in default of $75,000 bail, will be required to serve at least 85 percent of the sentence, and be subject to parole for five years after leaving prison.

Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. scheduled sentencing for July 27.
