Visions for Vacancies: The Former Bradlees

Now only a portion of the former Bradlees, this empty lot has been vacant since the store's closure. What should fill this empty spot?

Currently a half of the former Bradlees, this vacant building sits nestled in between retail giants such as Joe Canal’s and Big Lots in a plaza that also houses the Shoprite of West Deptford.

After Bradlees closed down, the building was on the market for years until it split into two different buildings—the larger building now currently Big Lots. The smaller building still sits vacant in an otherwise full and, at times, frantic plaza.

This latest edition of Visions for Vacancies asks the readers of West Deptford Patch to share their ideas for what business should move into this empty building located at 1077 Mantua Pike, West Deptford.

What do you think?

A pet store?

A fast food restaurant?

An electronics store?

A book store?

Tell us your idea for the currently vacant lot.

Please keep in mind all the stores that are already located in the area when sharing your answer. All answers can be left in the comments box below.

Probably not realistic, but how about a Whole Foods?

I like the idea of a bakery. A real bakery, not like Acme or Shoprite.

Trader Joes but probably not likely since Shop Rite is right there. That parking lot is the worst. I avoid Shop Rite at all cost. I would go if Trader Joes was over there though. West Deptford needs more options for organic foods.

Any store going in there is going to have a problem from the lot being packed, ShopRite offering most food items, Big Lots offering discount stuff, and Staples offering office and tech items. A Starbucks may not be able to get enough traffic to make it worth the cost of opening/running, but it would be a very nice start. What about a Home Brewers' resource store to compliment the Canals and the Shoprite?
