Library Honors International Women's Day with Free Events

Get your fill of literature and dance on International Women's Day at the West Deptford Free Public Library.

Celebrated worldwide, International Women’s Day dates back to the early 1900s, and is marked with hundreds of events around the globe dedicated to equally and peace. Friday, March 8 marks the 101st International Women’s Day, and—along with the rest of the world—the West Deptford Free Public Library will hold its own events in honor of the day with an afternoon party.

Kicking off at 11 a.m., the library will host three back-to-back events continuing throughout the day until 2 p.m. International Women’s Day events include the following:

  • Belly dancing at 11 a.m.
  • International cuisine sampling and poetry reading at noon. Participants are encouraged to bring their own poems to share.
  • Bachata dancing at 1 p.m.

All those who plan to participate are asked to call the library to register at 856-845-5593.

Also for Women’s History Month, the library will host an online book discussion on fiction and nonfiction international stories centered on participants' favorite heroines.

Those interested can find more information by visiting the library’s website
