A day after the Eagles knocked off Haddonfield for the first time in a decade and clinched the first division crown since the 70s, West Deptford’s wrestlers swept through their weekend quad meet to push their streak to 18 in an undefeated season.
The Eagles did it against three Group 4 schools, crushing Eastern and Pennsauken and narrowly slipping past Egg Harbor on the day.
It was once again the lightweights getting it done; with West Deptford trailing late against Egg Harbor, Tyler Kaminsky and Evan Zuzulock each pinned and Steve Alt scored a decision to knot it at 31 going into the final match.
That’s where Christian Terinoni scored the tiebreaking win, snaring an ultimate-tiebreaker decision over Brandon Bower to seal the team victory, 34-31.
Things were never in doubt against Eastern and Pennsauken, as West Deptford got pins from Phil Fisher, Alt, Terinoni, Evan Zuzulock, Dustin Zuzulock and Dan Gibson over the two matches.
The schedule gets even tougher in the coming days, with the Eagles facing 15-1 Clayton/Glassboro at home Monday night, before hitting the road to Paulsboro Wednesday and Audubon Friday.
