Achieve a Brighter Tomorrow With Free GCC Lifestyle Workshops

Deptford Twp. – The Center for People in Transition at Gloucester County College will offer an assortment of financial, health and wellness workshops to ensure individuals can meet their lifestyle needs. “Are You an Entrepreneur?” — Marion Chamberlain from the Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship Corp. will explain the difference between self-employment and entrepreneurship. The following topics will be covered: the importance of networking, business plans, insurance, the availability of grants and loans, home-based businesses vs. non-home-based businesses, marketing vs. public relations and using a part-time job as a training tool. “Preparing to Enter Today’s Job Market” — People in Transition facilitator Eileen Adezio will help job seekers establish a personalized strategy to obtain a new position. Discussion topics include how to get your resume noticed, effective interview skills and the importance of networking. Appropriate attire for the workplace, exploring industry cultures and how to meet employers’ expectations in today’s competitive job market will be explored. It meets Wednesday, July 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“Divorce Process” — James M. Carter, Esquire, will give an overview of the divorce process and what to expect before electing divorce. It meets Thursday, July 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“Resume Life-Skills Workshop” — Nancy Hawn, M.S., NJAPM, will demonstrate how to create the perfect resume to show prospective employers that you are the ideal candidate for the job! In a no-stress, open forum style all participant resumes will be critiqued. Don’t miss this opportunity to develop an outstanding resume and to increase the chances of getting that interview. It meets Monday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Start Right! Business Plan Basics” — This 12-hour course is designed to help individuals write their first draft of a business plan. An in-depth presentation, this seminar addresses legal, marketing, accounting and financial issues. Additional information covered includes developing financial statements, operations and suppliers, buying a business, marketing plans, competition analyses, loan requests and cash-flow statements. It meets Tuesdays, July 16, 23, 30, Aug. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. To register, call 973-507-9700 or email sscocchio@wcecnj.org.
