Bilinski Named GCC's New Wrestling Head Coach

Deptford Twp. – The Gloucester County College Board of Trustees has named Jason Bilinski, of Pittsgrove, as the new head coach of the Athletic Department’s wrestling program.

An alumna of Nebraska-based Dana College, Bilinski pinned his way to a 106-34 record while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in physical education. He has since entered the profession as an educator and assistant wrestling coach at both Delsea and Millville regional high schools. Bilinski helped guide the Millville Thunderbolts to an 18-4 season in 2013 and the Delsea Crusaders to the South Jersey Group II and Tri-County Royal Division championship titles in 2009.

He hopes to bring the same know-how and energy to GCC — the College where he started his own collegiate sports career. As a Roadrunner, he was a two-time NJCAA All-American athlete. His performance earned him a scholarship to attend Dana College where he achieved fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the NAIA National Championship 157-pound weight class.

Bilinski also plans to draw on his experience as a physical education teacher to engage his wrestlers. He has been in the classroom since fall 2011 at both Millville Memorial High School and Pleasantech Academy Charter School located in Pleasantville.

“I’m inheriting a great group of students with a solid record,” said Bilinski. “Nine were national qualifiers and a few were All-Americans. First and foremost they are students and I want them to get their education. As athletes I want to train them so that they can earn All-American status.”

“Jason’s job will be to re-energize the program and take it to new heights,” said GCC Athletic Director and Dean of Health, Physical Education and Recreation Ron Case. “It already has a long legacy of excellence. The Roadrunners have captured six NJCAA championship titles.”

Bilinski replaces Pete DiPol who left the Roadrunners after two years to become the head wrestling coach at Baker University. DiPol compiled a 23-6 record over two seasons including an appearance at the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in 2012. GCC took fourth place overall in the non-scholarship division.

“Former head coach Pete DiPol only had great things to say,” said Bilinski. “My goal is to recruit quality student athletes, and from there, to build a dynasty.”

Gloucester County College’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55.
