“Celebrate the Holidays in New Ways” with Free GCC Workshop
Deptford Twp. – Individuals who recently experienced loss can learn to “Celebrate the Holidays in New Ways” to achieve peace and joy this season during a free life-skills workshop at Gloucester County College (GCC) beginning Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Jennie McQuaide, a licensed professional counselor, will share coping mechanisms to overcome feelings of loneliness and sadness after a death or divorce in the family. During the session, she will suggest tasteful ways to honor the memories of loved ones and reflect on past relationships without getting caught up in negative emotions. Individuals will also explore new possibilities and festivities to incorporate into their celebration plans.
“Many people try to stick to their normal routines to recapture the feelings of holidays past,” said McQuaide. “Although admirable, it is important that individuals forge new traditions to move their family forward.”
