Free Study Skills Workshop for Parents Held Aug. 28 at GCC

Deptford Twp. – The Center for People in Transition and Heart of Gloucester County will host a “How to Teach Your Children Effective Study Skills” workshop Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gloucester County College.

With the start of a new academic year right around the corner, parents can brush up on study skills to assist their children in reaching their scholastic goals. Elementary educator Donna Reynolds, M.A., N.J. K-5 certified, will discuss organization, time management and tactics to review materials covered in class. The importance of each child’s very own quiet place to study and a daily homework routine will also be explored.

Other topics include opening the lines of communication between parents and teachers and parents and children. According to Reynolds, a parent’s positive attitude and interest in their children’s education goes a long way in fostering academic success.
