George Hobbins Named GCC Men’s Soccer Head Coach

Deptford Twp. – The Gloucester County College Board of Trustees and Roadrunner Athletics Department have named George Hobbins as the new head coach of the men’s soccer program.

Hobbins, of Sewell, is hot off an 11-year stint as the coach of both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams at Washington Township High School. He brings extensive leadership and athletic training expertise to the College, having coached at Rutgers University–Camden, Camden County College and GCC in the 1990s.

His love of the game prompted him to open the South Jersey Goalkeeping Academy as well as keep current on the latest soccer trends. As a coach, Hobbins employs a player-focused approach, concentrating on the advancement of their technical and tactical skills. He has held positions at the New Jersey State Olympic Development as the director of goalkeeping, Philadelphia Fever as an assistant coach and New Jersey Youth Soccer program as a staff instructor.

Hobbins presently works for the Washington Township Board of Education as a high school guidance counselor.
