Gloucester County Police Academy Graduates 26th Special Officer II Class
Deptford Twp. – The Gloucester County Police Academy will hold its 26th Special Officer II Class graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 21, at 6 p.m. in the Physical Education Center on the Gloucester County College campus.
Opening remarks will be made by Gloucester County College President Frederick Keating and Board of Trustees Chairman Gene Concordia.
The keynote address will be given by Lt. Edwin F. Alicea (retired), Glassboro Police Department. Keating, Concordia and Alicea will award the diplomas.

Atlantic County: Philip D. Kates, Buena.

Burlington County: Mark D. Berardis, Burlington City; Jordan E. Green, Vincent J. Henry, and Anthony M. Senni, Burlington Township; Andrew C. Hoyer, Fieldsboro; Alexander J. Hubel, Jeffrey Parente and Brian T. Rust, Palmyra; and Kristen E. Kovacs, Mt. Holly.
Camden County: Anthony J. Abbate, Oaklyn.
Cumberland County: Brian S. Crispin, James J. Filippello Jr. and Anthony R. Hoffman, Bridgeton; and Megan T. Habina, Vineland.
Gloucester County: Michael T. Konnick, Greenwich Township; and Chad Thomas Lago, Woolwich Township.
The class officers are: Megan T. Habina, president/class leader; Kristen E. Kovacs, vice-president; Anthony J. Abbate, secretary; Brian T. Rust, treasurer; Vincent J. Henry, physical fitness leader and Brian S. Crispin, guidon.
Special awards will be given at the ceremony for academics, marksmanship, vehicle operations, dedication, physical fitness and professionalism.
Special Officer II graduates are authorized to exercise full powers and duties similar to those of a permanent, regularly appointed, full-time police officer.
The trainees must complete instruction, including professional development, criminal justice system, police community relations, law, arrest, search and-seizure, evidence, communications, vehicle operations, emergency medical care, weaponry and unarmed defense; patrol concepts; traffic; criminal investigation; physical fitness; and agency training.
The course is conducted on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and sessions began on August 19, 2013. In addition to the night classes, the recruits are also required to participate in three physical fitness evaluation tests, five days of firearms training and vehicle operations sessions conducted on Saturdays and Sundays.
GCC’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55.
