Kimball Medical Center Takes Health Care Mobile with iTriage

Advances in technology allow people to access real-time information on-the-go, including information on medical issues and healthcare providers. According to the Pew Research Center, six in 10 American adults sought health information online within the past year. Kimball Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, has launched a campaign that uses technology to ease the anxiety of patients and their family members visiting the Emergency Department.

Kimball is the first Barnabas Health facility to utilize ER Check-In™ from iTriage®, an app that allows patients to notify hospital staff of a pending Emergency Department visit directly from their smartphone, tablet or computer.

“This consumer-driven medical resource gives patients the ability to notify Kimball’s Emergency Department staff of their impending arrival, essentially helping to alleviate the patient or family member’s anxiety and allowing the hospital staff to prepare for the patient’s arrival,” said Judy Colorado, Vice President of Nursing, Kimball Medical Center.

While Kimball is the only facility to currently utilize iTriage’s ER Check-In feature, all Barnabas Health facilities are highlighted within iTriage, which allows users to search for our healthcare facilities by name or location.

With iTriage, patients can also research their symptoms and take charge of their healthcare decisions to find the appropriate level of care. All medical content available on iTriage is approved by Harvard Medical School.

“Providing patients with accurate information at their fingertips can alleviate worry, but iTriage goes a step further and provides what they need to take action. iTriage gives users appropriate care options to help them make better decisions,” said Dr. Wayne Guerra, iTriage co-founder and Chief Medical Officer.

iTriage is available as a free app download for iPhone, iPad or Android devices and is available online at www.iTriageHealth.com. To learn more about Kimball Medical Center and the ER Check-In initiative, visit BarnabasHealth.org/Kimball.
