People in Transition August Workshop Series Held at RCGC

Deptford Twp. – The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County hosts a number of free life-skills, personal finance and healthy living workshops during the month of August. Call 856-415-2222 or email peopleintransition@rcgc.edu to register.

“GET the Job and KEEP the Job Workshop Series” — Nancy Hawn, M.S., NJAPM, and Eileen Adezio, B.A., discuss the key elements to getting and keeping a new job. This five-part series runs the entire month of August and will benefit participants the most by making the commitment to attend the remaining sessions. It is sponsored by Heart of Gloucester County and People in Transition.

Part 1: Mistakes Individuals Make on Job Applications, Resumes, Cover Letters and Thank You Letters on Tuesday, July 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Start Small, Think Big: Learn How to Save” — Tiffany W. Thurman, CFPPE manager at FinanciallyHers at Clarifi, talks about Philadelphia Saves, which is offered by Clarifi and linked to the America Saves nationwide campaign. Philadelphia Saves focuses on starting out small by taking manageable steps such as cutting expenses or saving change. It also concentrates on thinking big by setting goals to buy a home, get out of debt or retire with peace of mind. This workshop offers helpful tips on how to develop smart financial goals and save to achieve those goals. It meets Thursday, Aug. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

“Melting the Witch Within” — Certified Professional Life Coach Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld gives advice on how to overcome negativity. This workshop demonstrates how pessimistic thoughts, emotions and actions hinder an individual’s efforts to achieve one’s heart’s desire, and how to cultivate a more positive mindset. It meets Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Investigate Investing” — Tiffany W. Thurman, CFPPE manager at FinanciallyHers at Clarifi, simplifies the confusion and complication associated with investing. This workshop makes understanding investing easy. It meets Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

“Basic Estate Planning” — John P. Ciocco, Esquire, addresses the essentials of estate planning, including the proper drafting of a last will and testament, power of attorney and living will documents. This workshop offers a wide-range discussion on basic estate planning techniques that enable participants to rest assured that they are prepared for whatever life brings. It meets Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
