People in Transition July Workshop Series at Rowan College

Deptford Twp. – The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County hosts a number of personal finance, legal and life-skills workshops during the month of July. All are free of charge unless otherwise noted. Call 856-415-2222 or email peopleintransition@rcgc.edu to register.

“Learn How to Be Summer Money Savvy” — Tiffany W. Thurman, CFPPE manager at FinanciallyHers at Clarifi, guides a supportive group of women and men who are dedicated to making lasting financial change take the first step toward success. It meets Thursday, July 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

“Widowhood: Financial Perspective” — Financial Advisor Monique Castillo offers advice about the financial realities of widowhood and the steps of preparation to ease the transition through this difficult time. A booklet will be provided that summarizes the key points of the seminar and an actionable checklist to help keep women on track. It meets Tuesday, July 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Finding Your Inner Rainbow” — Certified Professional Life Coach Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld guides participants to realize that the key to having all of their hearts’ desires is to follow the rainbow. Participants uncover their inner rainbows in this compelling workshop, so they can learn how to regain and reclaim themselves. It meets on Wednesday, July 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Introduction to Medicaid for the Elderly” — John P. Ciocco, Esquire, addresses long-term elderly care issues that can arise unexpectedly. This introductory Medicaid workshop discusses a loved one’s transition from independent- to assisted-living arrangements. It also answers such questions as how to pay for nursing homes, will they take the home and who is liable for debts. Please join this workshop before the unexpected happens. It meets Wednesday, July 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“Navigating Child Support” — Gloucester County Social Services Child Support Specialist Gina Foster describes the processes to establishing paternity, filing for support services and enforcing existing court orders. A review of the family court, probation and social services are discussed as well as individual rights. It meets Tuesday, July 22 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

“GET the Job and KEEP the Job Workshop Series” — Nancy Hawn, M.S., NJAPFM, and Eileen Adezio, B.A., discuss the key elements to getting and keeping a new job. The series of workshops will benefit participants the most by making the commitment to attend all five sessions. It is sponsored by Heart of Gloucester County and People in Transition.

Part 1: Mistakes Individuals Make on Job Applications, Resumes, Cover Letters and Thank You Letters on Tuesday, July 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Part 2: Resume Writing on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Part 3: Role Play the Job Interview on Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Part 4: Appropriate Apparel for the Interview and Job on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Part 5: Keeping the Job Involves more than Skills and Experience on Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.
