Woodbury High School Students Participate in MLK Day of Service

While most students in the area slept in and enjoyed their day off from school, approximately 85 students from Woodbury City Public Schools participated in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, embracing a “day on, not a day off.”

Woodbury Junior-Senior High School Principal Mrs. Dunham started the Day of Service with a breakfast and program marking the significance of the occasion and addressing the theme of “What are you doing for others?”.

As part of the celebration, four students -- Justin Vera, Josh Byarm, Chelsea Dickson, and Ja'Vonn Gross -- provided testimonials of what service learning meant to them. Singers, including Mrs. Dunham, added a beautiful touch to the morning.

In addition to high school students, girls from Girl Scout Daisies Troop 61028 volunteered to help. Volunteers assisted throughout the city at places such as the Friendship Fire Station, Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries, Main Street Woodbury, Woodbury Mews, Woodbury Board of Education, A Taste of Philly Pretzel Bakery, Gloucester County Historical Society, Monogram Shoppe, and the YMCA.
