Woodbury Junior-Senior High School Hosts AERA Members

Woodbury Junior-Senior High School recently hosted a school visit for 40 members of the American Education Research Association (AERA). This sold-out excursion was part of AERA’s offerings to members attending its annual meeting in Philadelphia, the largest gathering of scholars in the field of education research.

International educators from as far away as the University of Sydney, Victoria University, Beijing University, Seoul National University, University of Amsterdam, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong toured the Junior-Senior High School and met with students and staff.

Woodbury Junior-Senior High School, as part of its work with the Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) system and the local New Jersey Network for Closing the Achievement Gap (NJNCAG), was chosen by AERA committee members as a tour site because of the school’s small class sizes, diverse student body, vast array of Advanced Placement (AP) classes, and a strong AVID system that supports students taking rigorous classes in preparation for college.
