Woodbury Junior-Senior High School Receives Recognition as an AVID National Demonstration School

Woodbury Junior-Senior High School is pleased to announce that it has been revalidated as an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration School through the 2015-2016 school year. Woodbury Junior-Senior High School was first given the distinction of a National Demonstration School in April 2011. It was the second school in the northeast to receive this honor and the first Junior-Senior Demonstration School in the nation.

AVID is a proven college readiness system, implemented in more than 4,900 schools, that assists students into becoming confident, college-going scholars and graduates. Woodbury Junior-Senior High School is one of approximately 130 other AVID Demonstration Schools in the country.

“Schools chosen as demonstration sites have proven their ability to successfully implement the AVID academic elective course and take the strategies school wide to impact all students, “ said AVID Executive Director Jim Nelson. “Woodbury Junior-Senior High School was selected as an AVID Demonstration School because it has implemented the AVID system throughout the school and can serve as a model for new AVID sites.”
