American Victim in Malaysian Airline Crash Had Ties to Deptford, Fort Lee, N.J.

Quinn Lucas Schansman's great aunt lives in Deptford and he has ties to Fort Lee.

Quinn Lucas Schansman, 19, the only American identified as a victim in the Malaysian jet that was shot down over eastern Ukraine, has family ties to Deptford and Fort Lee.

He was born in Fort Lee and moved to Holland with his family when he was five years old, nj.com reports. His great-aunt lives in Deptford.

President Barack Obama confirmed Schansman was on Airlines Flight MH17 that was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. He was set to join the rest of his family, which was vacationing in Malaysia.

He was a Dutch student with dual citizenship in the United States and the Netherlands.

Schansman's father lived in Fort Lee in the mid-1990s to late 1990s, according to NJ.com.
