Whether watercolor’s your specialty, or you just feel like breaking out the easel and pastels, the Gloucester County Cultural & Heritage Commission is offering a chance to flex your creative muscles for a chance at the top prize in the organization’s Plein Air Art Competition this Sunday at .
Part of the annual flower show at the battlefield, the competition begins with registration between 9 and 11 a.m., with a deadline of 4:30 p.m. for finished artwork.
Artists must be at least 18 years old, and can submit up to four pieces for a shot at the $250 first prize, which is made possible through funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Ross Beitzel, professor emeritus and curator of the Permanent Art Collection at Gloucester County College, will judge the competition, with a focus on overall composition, completeness and concept. Only artwork completed the day of the contest is eligible.
