Get Out: Frank and the Fourth

South Jersey will be alive this weekend with the sounds of celebration! Here are a few local venues to celebrate our nations birth, and one show not to miss.

More than 200 years ago our nation declared its independence from Britain. Check out local celebrations, re-enactments of the first fourth of July, and if you have time, a show about a modern American icon.

Independence Day Celebration Concert & Fireworks

  • Where/When: Wiggins Waterfront Park–The foot of Mickle Blvd., Camden, NJ. 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 2.
  • What’s Going On: Enjoy a free concert from Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic as we celebrate out nation’s independence. After the show, you can watch the fireworks over the Philadelphia skyline as they burst above the Delaware River. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
  • Pricing: Free.

Cherry Hill Community Fourth of July Festival

  • Where/When: Cherry Hill High School West–2101 Chapel Ave., Cherry Hill, NJ. 7 p.m. on Monday, July 4.
  • What’s Going On: The community of Cherry Hill will be sponsoring a day of music, activities, food and fireworks in honor of the Fourth of July. Doors open at 7 p.m., the music begins at 8 p.m., and the fireworks begin at 9 p.m..
  • Pricing: free

Collingswood Fourth of July Celebration

  • Where/When: –424 Collings Ave., Collingswood, NJ. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4.
  • What’s Going On: If Cherry Hill isn’t your scene, head on over to Collingswood for a patriotic decorating contest, a bike parade in Knight Park, live patriotic music from the band All About Me, and fireworks that night. The show starts at 8 p.m. and the fireworks go on around 9:15 p.m.
  • Pricing: free

  • Where/When: Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation–3900 North Sandy Flash Dr., Newtown Square, PA. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. No admission after 4 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Join the folks at the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation as they recreate the first Independence Day in 1776. Hear the words of independence and see citizens of the Colonial era react to the news that we are to be our own sovereign nation! Guests are welcome to bring picnic lunches, chairs and blankets. Refreshments will also be for sale.
  • Pricing: $8, children $6 (ages 4-12) , children under 4 are free

My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra

  • Where/When: Walnut Street Theatre Independence Studio on 3–825 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA. 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 3.
  • What’s Going On: Celebrate the magic of Ol’ Blue Eyes with this musical about the legendary performer Frank Sinatra. Two couples will take you from the 1940s swing era through his days with the Rat Pack and more. This is the last weekend for this show, so don’t miss it!
  • Pricing: $30 a ticket
