Get Out: Hollywood Nights and American Guitars

Celebrate new book releases, an American rock icon, locally grown wine, and much more this weekend.

The South Jersey area is full of fun and exciting things to do this weekend. Here are five of these awesome events!

“Hollywood Nights”

  • Where/When: Fasola Park–12 Sycamore Lane, Deptford, NJ.
    7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 17.
  • What’s Going On: Get some “Old Time Rock and Roll” with Hollywood Nights, the “most sought after” Bob Seger tribute band in the US! Hollywood Nights does their best to replicate every nuance of a real Seger show and even dives into the more obscure parts of the catalog. Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to this free show!

The Wedding Singer

  • Where/When: The Broadway Theatre of Pitman–43 S. Broadway, Pitman, NJ. 8 p.m. on Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16. 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 17.
  • What’s Going On: When wannabe rockster Robbie Hart’s fiancée dumps him, he gets a bad case of the wedding singer blues. That is, until he meets the lovely Julia who has a fiancée of her own. Don’t miss this comedic musical based on the Adam Sandler movie in its opening weekend.

American Guitar Masters

  • Where/When: Barrington Coffee House –131 Clements Bridge Rd., Barrington, NJ. 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, July 15.
  • What’s Going On: Acoustic guitar masters Larry Pattis and Peter Janson bring you two outstanding musical performances. Pattis was named one of the “Top Ten Best Acoustic Music Artists of the Decade” by the International Acoustic Music Awards, and plays fingerstyle originals using classic techniques. Janson’s original acoustic work has found radio play across the country, and he is now supporting his album Compass Rose.

Barrel Tasting Weekend

  • Where/When: Heritage Winery–480 Mullica Hill Rd., Mullica Hill, NJ. Noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17.
  • What’s Going On: Sample classically-styled wines straight from the barrel and pair them with imported cheeses set to match perfectly. Enjoy music from the classic rock and jazz cover band Standard Deviation and go on a winery tour with Assistant Winemaker Carl Hudson. 
  • Pricing: $10 a person, an additional $7 for the winery tour.


Book Launch and Reading

  • Where/When: The Black Sheep–247 S. 17th Street, Philadelphia, PA. 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 16.
  • What’s Going On: Celebrate the publication of Dhaka Dust, a compilation featuring poetry by Dilruba Ahmed, Tua Chaudhuri and Ross White, and fiction by James McAdams at the historic Irish pub Black Sheep! A limited number of copies of Dhaka Dust will be on sale for $10 and there will be a cash bar and light appetizers.
