Get Out: Local Rock, the Silk Road and Helping Puppies

Looking for something new and interesting to do this weekend? Well, you needn't go far: Check out some of this weekend's events right here!

Get Out is back once again to show you the way to a better weekend day! (Or night, really.) This week's edition features two worthwhile free events, two fun fundraisers, and two eye-opening exhibits. Enjoy.

Rock Out on Fourth Friday

  • Where/When: Pitman Bus Stop Café–148 South Broadway St., Pitman, NJ. Show begins at 7 p.m on Friday, March 25.
  • What’s Going On: Catch three great bands at this rock themed café during Pitman’s Fourth Friday celebration. Check out the Collingswood natives the Morning River Band as they bring in a peaceful Americana/country/folk rock sound, local band String Theory heaves in strong jazz influenced music and Bizarre Silence rocks with Black Sabbath-blues- influenced fervor.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology–3260 South St., Philadelphia, PA. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 26.
  • What’s Going On: Explore what life was like along this world famous trade route one thousand years ago. Discover some of the foods, spices, arts, music and dance that evolved as the cultures of East and West came together. Enjoy visually dynamic performances by the Silk Road Dance Company as well as lectures on the Silk Road from scholars. The Secrets of the Silk Road exhibit requires separate admission.
  • Pricing: Admission: $10, $6 for students and children ages 6-12. Secrets of the Silk Road Exhibit: $22.50, $16.50 for children. Reserve your time slot for the exhibit online.

Celebrity Comedy Bash

  • Where/When: Colleens at the Savoy–1444 Rt. 73, Pennsauken, NJ. Saturday, March 26 from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
  • What’s Going On: Have a few laughs, enjoy a good meal and support West Jersey Volunteers for Animals! There will be a cash bar, basket auction and open buffet. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 8.
  • Pricing: $38 per person

Haiti Through Our Eyes Opening Reception

  • Where/When: Gloucester County College–Ross Beitzel Art Gallery- 1400 Tanyard Rd., Deptford, NJ. 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 25.
  • What’s Going On: This exhibit on loan from The Noyes Museum of Art features a series of photographs capturing the devastation of Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and the people that lived through it. A re-creation of a Haitian shelter and a twenty minute documentary about the Haiti Emergency Art Relief Team (H.E.A.R.T.) will also be part of the exhibit. This exhibition will be on display until May 2.
  • Pricing: Free

Sir Beatle: Beatles Sing-Along Show

  • Where/When: Valley Brook Country Club–200 Golfview Dr., Blackwood, NJ. The show begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26.
  • What’s Going On: Take a fun filled ride back in time with authentic Beatles instruments, costumes and music. Live vocals and bass compliment state of the art guitar and drum tracks as the performers bring you from the Beatles first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show to Sgt. Pepper and more!
  • Pricing: $20 includes breakfast and a show
