Grab and Go Family Planner: Almost Fall

The first crisp wind of fall is on its way, and many of the kids are already off to school. Make this weekend special with a family friendly event.

The Grab and Go Family Planner is back for another week of weekend misadventures. As the leaves start to change colors, places around the area are still having exciting programs the whole family can enjoy. Three of this week's events are free!

Toy Story 3

  • Where/When: Red Bank Battlefield Park—100 Hessian Ave., National Park. 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9.
  • What's Going On: Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and all of the zany gang from the Toy Story series are delivered to a day care center by mistake as Andy heads off to college. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and see this movie on the big screen outside. Popcorn will be provided and a rain date will be set in the case of inclement weather.
  • Pricing: free

  • Where/When: Mount Holly Library—307 High St. Mount Holly. 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.  
  • What's Going On: Sample tasty foods from the fall harvest once again with the folks at the Mount Holly Library. This historic building was once the home of a prominent Mount Holly farmer.
  • Pricing: free

Hefty Harvest and Scary Scarecrows Family Festival

  • Where/When: Camden Children's Garden- 3 Riverside Dr. Camden. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11.
  • What's Going On: Do everything from build your own scarecrow to sample the bountiful harvest foods of fall at this annual festival. Make arts and crafts, play games or hit up the fall-themed concession stand.
  • Pricing: $6 per person and free for children under 2. There is a "small fee" for the scarecrow making activity.

Monarch Mexican Fiesta

  • What's Going On: Join the people at the Garden State Discovery Museum as they release monarch butterflies for their migration to Mexico! The Subaru Butterfly Garden has been full of caterpillars all summer long who have now made the transition to butterfly and are now ready to take off. Don't miss this event along with all of the other attractions at the Garden State Discovery Museum.
  • Pricing: $10.95 for adults and children 12 months and over, and $9.95 for seniors. All programs are free with admission unless otherwise noted.

Family Fest

  • Where/When: Eakins Oval—26th St. and Benjamin Franklin Pkwy., Philadelphia, PA. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
  • What's Going On: This family-focused event will feature a bicycle rodeo for kids, free fitness classes, yoga, cooking demonstrations, a treasure hunt and other health and wellness related activities. This program is sponsored by CHOP and the Bicycle Coalition's Safe Routes Philly program.
