Grab and Go Family Planner: Screaming and Mooing

Enjoy the first weekend in June with your family at these local events.

Appel Farm Art & Music Festival

  • Where/When: Apple Farm Music and Art Center–457 Shirely Rd., Elmer, NJ. 11:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on June 4.
  • What’s Going On: Bring the whole family to this rain or shine event at the one and only Appel Farm Music and Arts Center. Enjoy live music from artists like Josh Ritter & the Royal City Band, Ani DiFranco, Gogol Bordello and more. There will also be childrens’ village, a juried crafts fair and a wine and beer tent for the adults. Seating is general admission so it’s advised to bring either a blanket or low-back chair to sit on.
  • Pricing:  $40-$45 non-refundable.

  • Where/When: St. Matthew’s School Grounds–1210 Hessian Ave., West Deptford, NJ. 6:30-11 p.m. on Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4.
  • What’s Going On: You are never too old or too young to enjoy have fun at a local carnival! This event will feature rides, music, food, games and a beer garden.
  • Pricing: $20 for an unlimited rides wristband

Old Towne Music at the Mullica Hill Library

  • Where/When: Mullica Hill Branch Library–389 Wolfert Station, Mullica Hill, NJ. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.
  • What’s Going On: Celebrate this summer’s reading slogan “One World, Many Stories” with the music of Old Towne Music. Keep reading!

  • What’s Going On: This whimsical play based on the children’s book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin will have you rolling in your seats and mooing all the way home. Famer Brown puts his granddaughter Jenny’s laptop computer in the barn only to realize that the animals are now writing him letters. They have demands, but will Farmer Brown give in?

Peanut Butter and Jams Welcomes Alastair Moock

  • Where/When: World Café Live–3025 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA. 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4.
  • What’s Going On: Folk singer/songwriter Alastair Moock bring music from his first kids/family album A Cow Says Moock to the stage. After having twin daughters Moock was inspired to write a family album and now brings the inspired silliness and folk tradition to the stage with songs like "Spaghetti in My Shoe" and "Belly Buttons."
  • Pricing: Adults- $11, children 12 and under- $8, and free for children under the age of one
