Grab and Go Kids Planner: The Arts Come Alive–Dinosaurs, Too

Celebrate the arts in NJ or Philly this weekend with your family at one of five fun events!

Where can you go on such a wonderful weekend without breaking the bank? You and your whole family can enjoy a music class, dig up some bones, dress up like Goofy, find out who stole the Mona Lisa or sing with John Lithgow all this weekend!

Dino Day & Bug Bonanza Family Festival

  • Where/When: Camden Children’s Garden–3 Riverside Dr., Camden, NJ. 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10.
  • What’s Going On: Learn about dinosaurs and insects while digging for fossils in the ever popular Dino Garden. Take part in themed crafts, educational activities, planting events and more in the Second Weekend Series event.
  • Pricing: $6 for adults, $5 for children ages 3-11.

Music Together Demo Class

  • Where/When: Conservatory of Musical Arts–19 Kings Highway East, Haddonfield, NJ. 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9.
  • What’s Going On: This mixed age class can give your child the basic musical skills to enjoy social musical activities as well as those in school. Children ages four and under and their parents are invited to this free demonstration and class.
  • Pricing: Free

John Lithgow: The Sunny Side of the Street

  • Where/When: Annenberg Center, Zellerbach Theater–3680 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA. Noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
  • What’s Going On: Sing along with zany stage, film and TV actor John Lithgow as he brings his silly brand of family friendly music to Zellerbach Theater. The actor will regale audiences with stories, surprises and songs from his hit album The Sunny Side of the Street. Recommended for children ages five and up.
  • Pricing: $15 a ticket

Who Stole the Mona Lisa

  • Where/When: Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Perelman Theater–300 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA. 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9.
  • What’s Going On: Celebrate legendary composers and world-renowned fine artists with three different performances featuring the music of Poulenc, Stravinsky and more. This diverse presentation will include specially commissioned animation and audience participation and is presented by Astral Artists, a premiere organization designed to support emerging classical musicians.
  • Pricing: $5-$20

Minnie’s Masquerade

  • Where/When: The Cherry Hill Mall Disney Store–2000 Rt. 38, Cherry Hill, NJ. 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8 and 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
  • What’s Going On: Hey kids! Come dressed in your favorite costume and join the folks at the Disney Store for an exclusive early viewing of Minnie’s Masquerade before it airs on TV. Make a royal crown and participate in a fun-filled costume parade where everybody wins!
  • Pricing: Free
