Irish Jigs Come to St. Matthew’s Sunday

An afternoon of traditional music is in store at the school this weekend.

Irish music fans are in luck—St. Matthew’s School Hall on Hessian Avenue will ring with a concert of traditional tunes Sunday.

The Irish Session—Bob Michel, Rich Dodson, Laura Murphy and Mike Plunkett—will perform traditional songs and jigs, reels, hornpipes and other tunes on wooden flute, tin whistles, concertina, fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar.

Along with the band, special guests Corey Purcell and Erin Green, champion Irish step-dancers, will perform. Both Purcell and Green qualified for the International Step-Dancing Championships in Belfast this year.
