Will You Write the New Summer Shore Anthem?

The Jersey Shore Soundoff contest is searching for a song that perfectly captures what summers at the shore mean.

New Jersey is so much “stronger than the storm” that it’s time to sing about it.

There’s a statewide contest on to create New Jersey’s new song of summer, an ode to the shore and a state still coming back from Superstorm Sandy.

The Jersey Shore Soundoff is collecting entries from any musical Garden Stater who composes a song about the state’s beaches, boardwalks and summer fun.

The contest is open until Aug. 10 and musicians can upload their entries to the Jersey Shore Soundoff website. There’s already a few songs in the mix—the sooner entries are posted, the more time they have to collect fans and votes.

Although voting is open to the whole country, only New Jersey residents are allowed to enter songs.

And don’t worry about ringers (we’re looking at you, Springsteen and Bon Jovi): Musicians aren’t eligible if under contract with a record company.

If you enter the Jersey Shore Soundoff, let us know—Patch’s announcements will help you get the vote out.
