Woodbury Main Street's Shop Local Saturday Specials

Thanks to Small Business Saturday, locals don't have to travel far for deals this holiday season.

Black Friday notoriously marks the beginning of controlled retail chaos, deemed the holiday shopping season. The mad hustle and bustle is marked by sleep-deprived masses combating turkey comas to score deals.

But what if you don't want the big box holiday? Say hello to Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday promotes shopping at mom-and-pop shops for your holiday goodies and local businesses—including those on Woodbury's Main Street—are part of the action.

Small Business Saturday helped spearhead the Gloucester County-based campaign Shop, Dine, Go Local, which kicked off last summer with Freeholder Heather Simmons and Woodbury Mayor Ron Riskie.

Just like Black Friday, Main Street’s local shops and eateries will offer some exciting deals for those holiday shoppers on Small Business Saturday, but that’s not all. Patrons and children will have the chance to meet Santa, who will be making his way around Broad Street from 1 to 4 p.m.

Patrons should also stop by the Main Street Woodbury tent for a free pumpkin spiced coffee and hot chocolate. And if that isn’t motivation enough to come out to Main Street this Saturday, several venues will have live music performances for shoppers to enjoy. Children can also get in on the fun at the County Seat Diner with a free art activity—sponsored by the Blue Heron Studio.

Neighboring towns, such as Glassboro, also have their own promotions for in-town small business. In addition, Glassboro’s Business Development Office will raffle off up to $200 in local gift certificates on Dec. 21. In order to enter, shoppers must bring their receipts from local retailers to the office—located at 10 S. Poplar St. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. See PDF above for coupons.
