In less than a month, locals who are in need of medical assistance will soon have an alternative to those long trips to the ER.
According to MedExpress Senior Vice President of Operations Dean Hatcher, the new location will celebrate its soft opening on Tuesday, Feb. 26—opening for patients the following day.
“We’re really excited to be in New Jersey,” says Hatcher, whose company recently opened a center in Cinnaminson with another soon opening in Willingboro.
After renovations are complete, the center will open in the former Hollywood Video, located in the Southwood Shopping Center.
In the weeks before the center opens, the new MedExpress is hiring and looking for professionals to fill positions. Currently, available positions include front office assistants, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, radiologic technologists and registered nurses. Those who wish to apply for the positions may fill out an application on the MedExpress website.
Hatcher says that MedExpress is a fully functional urgent care center—capable of preforming EKGs, IV therapy, stitching, splinting and lump and bump surgery. MedExpress is also equipped to treat many situations in need of immediate attention, such as broken bones, bronchitis, pneumonia, allergic reactions and burns.
“We bridge the gap between a medical office, open five days a week, and an ER,” says Hatcher about the new center, which is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Despite the center’s ability to treat a wide range of ailments, Hatcher notes the facility is not capable of treating any injuries relating to trauma or afflictions requiring a specialist. However, the clinic regularly checks in with patients to see if a follow up is needed by a family doctor or specialist.
According to the MedExpress website, the center accepts patients with or without insurance, offering affordable payments for those without health care. Those with insurance may pay lower copays for urgent care than if they had attended the ER, according to the company.
“Urgent care is what we do,” says Hatcher. “We treat every patient like they are our only patient.”
