Sunoco Denies Eagle Point to India Deal

Company officials said negotiations are ongoing for the sale of the shuttered refinery, but it isn't headed overseas.

Sunoco officials on Monday refuted reports out of Indian media claiming the company's .

Mumbai-based Daily News & Analysis reported Amerind Petroleum Private Ltd. had brokered an agreement last week to purchase a refinery with a 150,000-barrel-per-day capacity and move it to Visakhapatnam, on India's east coast.

Though Daily News & Analysis claimed it was a New Jersey refinery, and Eagle Point's capacity matches Amerind's deal, Sunoco officials said Indian media got it wrong.

Sunoco officials said the company is negotiating the potential sale of the refinery complex, but said there's no announcement forthcoming.
