100 Goals, 100 Wins, and Victories Piling up Across the Board

West Deptford High School athletics had a big weekend with a few milestone accomplishments as well.

Goal number 100 for Rachel Krott was just one of four she scored on Saturday's lacrosse match against Clearview, but it wasn't enough to pull the Eagles past the Pioneers' balanced attack in a 10-7 loss. Krott assisted on another two goals as well en route to a 6-point outburst.

Boys lacrosse coach Mike Yarusso also put a feather in his cap last weekend, as the undefeated Eagles handed him his 100th victory in a 15-5 rout of Middle Township on April 6. That's a strong showing for the 8-year-old program.

The West Deptford boys golf team is off to a hot start, with victories over Overbrook (196-231) on April 2, Gateway (179-222) on April 4 and Sterling on April 10 (184-188). Richie Stolz is leading the way, having shot a 43 against Overbrook, a 40 against Gateway and 44 over Sterling. Teammate Joe Duffy was the next best, with scores of 50, 48 and 45, respectively.

Finally, on April 8, the West Deptford varsity softball team blanked Woodbury, 14-0, with Sydney Ponto fanning 12 batters. Marissa Linquist homered twice, Summer Wenzel went yard, and Ciara Giourard added a double in the victory. The team followed that up with a 17-0 drubbing of Collingswood on April 10.

The Eagles girls are 4-0 and have yet to allow a run this season.
