Dogs Get a Park of Their Own

Gloucester County opens a new dog park at the DREAM Park in Logan.

County residents looking for a home, where their pugs can go roam, where the Labs and the terriers play, need only take a ride down 295 to the Gloucester County DREAM Park, which now features the county's first dog park.

Freeholder Director Stephen Sweeney, who officially opened the park last week, said the county made a commitment to including a dog park when the DREAM Park was first opened in 2008.

"I really wanted to fulfill that promise to our dog owners," Sweeney said.

The dog park was built with fencing donated by Logan Township's Soil Safe Inc., which Sweeney called "a great corporate neighbor" for helping get the park built.

The DREAM Park's dog park, which is open during daylight hours, is in a temporary location for now, until it can be shifted to a larger piece of land originally set aside for it. The current park configuration features two fenced areas: a small dog park, for dogs less than 25 pounds, which is 58 feet by 180 feet, and a large dog park, which is 60 feet by 214 feet.

Dog owners are required to clean up after their dogs and remain with their dog at all times, and each dog must have current rabies shots and all other vaccines as required by state law, and wear a collar with a valid license. A complete list of rules is posted at the dog park.
