Nice to Meet You, West Deptford

Patch editor Matt Skoufalos signs on to his newest assignment.

Hi everybody. My name is Matt Skoufalos, and I'm going to be taking over as the new local editor of West Deptford Patch.

If you're a regular to the family of Patch sites in South Jersey, you might know that I am also the editor of Collingswood Patch. I'll be retaining those duties as well as taking on coverage responsibilities for your community. These will be busy days.

A little about myself: I'm a father, musician, pop-culture guy and hockey fan. I've been a professional writer for about 15 years in just about any capacity you can imagine. I'm not a West Deptford resident, but I have lived the majority of my life in South Jersey, and I have more than a little idea about how stuff works around here.

What interests me most about Patch is its potential for connecting people in communities and unearthing the ideas that drive a particular town. I'm interested in the ways we have those conversations online.

As your editor, I would ask that users of the site honor one request: When you post your thoughts on this site, always remember there is a person on the other end who is reading your comments. Please use the opportunities we have here on Patch to have conversations that don't descend into name-calling or axe-grinding.

I know it will take time before I am fully up to speed on the issues that most matter to West Deptford. I hope that readers of the site will reach out to me with tips and information so that I can better provide the depth of coverage you have come to expect from Patch.

Please feel free to contact me if you have newsworthy information about something that's happening in town. I'll do my best to carry on the spirit and hard work of my predecessors in this position, and I hope you'll help me plug into the community to do so.

With that, I'd like to throw it to you in the comments section. What are the big issues in town? What are the things that matter the most to you? What should Patch be looking into?

Thanks for reading.
