Playoffs, Food Pantry, PAWS for Reading: Five Things for This Week

Plus: calligraphy and Zumba classes.

1. NJSIAA Playoffs

More than a few West Deptford High School teams are poised to make some noise this postseason. Boys and girls lacrosse, softball and baseball and track and field teams are competing in the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) playoffs.

On Monday, May 20, the third-ranked boys baseball team takes on #14-ranked Overbrook. Then on Tuesday, May 21, it's girls lacrosse hosting a 4/5 matchup of Manasquan, boys lacrosse against Delaware Valley Regional and the #3 Eagles softballers against #14 Atlantic Tech. Good luck, kids!

2. St. Paul's Food Pantry

Wednesday, May 22 at 9 a.m.—St. Paul's United Methodist Church

"The St. Paul’s Food Pantry is open the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 9 to 11 a.m. Food baskets are given out to Gloucester County residents who show the following:

  • Photo ID
  • Social Security cards/ birth certificates for all persons in household
  • Proof of Gloucester Country residency (utility bill, lease or mortgage statement)
  • Proof of income (pay stubs, unemployment, Social Security benefits, pension letter, etc.)

3. WDFPL PAWS for Reading

Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.—West Deptford Free Public Library

4. Calligraphy Class

Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m.—Woodbury Public Library

"It's not too late to get some lovely greeting cards together, so think about stopping by our now-weekly Calligraphy Class and Drop-In Studio. Learn different calligraphy techniques and work on various projects with Maureen Peters of Letterworks Press.

"Classes are free and open to the public. All skill levels are welcome and supplies are provided."

5. Zumba Fitness Classes

Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m.—601 W Browning Rd, Bellmawr, NJ

"Zumba is a Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning, dance fitness-party. Jen is a licensed Zumba instructor and she loves Zumba. The reason is simple - every class feels like a party!
