Sleepy's Needs Someone Who Likes to Hit Snooze

If you like to nap in storefronts, this job's for you.

Wanted: One power napper. Must be willing to doze in public, have strong opinions about mattress comfort and write blog entries that won’t put readers to sleep. Snorers welcome.

If you fit the above description—most importantly, the willingness to nap in public—you could be Sleepy’s new “snooze director.”

The mattresses retailer has put out a call for the new position, which entails testing mattresses in Sleepy’s stores during store hours. When the snooze director is awake, he or she will live blog about the experiences, help with Sleepy’s social media outreach and research sleeping trends.

Sleepy’s ideal candidate will have “18 years of sleeping experience,” plus prior experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, blogging and vlogging. It probably helps to be a heavy sleeper, too.

An employee at the Sleepy's on Mantua Pike across from Shop-Rite referred questions to the corporate office, but local applicants can have the chance to nap near home.

Snooze director hopefuls can apply through Sleepy’s Facebook page or online. Applicants should highlight what makes them “an expert in all things sleep-related” to set themselves apart from other drowsy candidates.

Sleepy’s executives surmise this is the ideal job for a college student or recent graduate.

“Between classes, all-nighters and busy social lives, young adults coming out of college are likely to be on the search for slumber after graduation. That’s exactly what we’re looking for,” Adam Blank, Sleepy’s chief operating officer, said in a statement.

“We need someone who’s happy to hit the hay every day for Sleepy’s. Ultimately, their feedback and input will help us to continue delivering a great night’s sleep to our customers.”

The salary: $10 an hour. Permission to nap on the job: Priceless.
