The Juliano Bros., Juneteenth: 5 Things for This Week

Plus: hermit crab races, nightclub two-step lessons and a blood drive.

1. 6th Annual Hermit Crab Race

Wednesday, June 12 at 7 p.m.—RiverWinds Community Center

"Pick out your favorite hermit crab and race your crab to the finish line. After the race, you get to take home your hermit crab, so make sure you bring a container for him!

The racs is open to children aged 3 and older; kids younger than 12 must have an adult with them. $11 for non-members, $7 for members.

2. Blood Drive at Colonial Manor UMC

3. Nightclub Two-Step

Thursday, June 13 at 7 p.m.—West Deptford Free Public Library

Get fit and have fun with the “Night Club Two-Step.” Diane Alcavage of Dances by Diane will liven things up with an evening of quick rock steps to sync up with the quick drum beats in the music.

"Partners are not needed, ladies can lead and hard soled shoes are recommended. The meeting room will be rocking and refreshments will be served. Call 856-845-5593 to register."

4. Summer Concert Series: The Juliano Bros.

Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m.—RiverWinds Community Center

The West Deptford Summer Concert Series continues Friday with the local Juliano Brothers band. Concerts start at 8 p.m. in the RiverWinds amphitheatre with Botto’s Italian Line Restaurant hosting the beer garden at 7 p.m. No B.Y.O.B. or coolers permitted. Call 845-4004 x136 for information.

5. 4th Annual Woodbury Juneteenth

Saturday, June 15

The action-packed day includes free health screenings and sports demos, music, poetry, theater, food vendors and a photo booth. Special activities for children as well. 

"Celebrate the rich legacy of African-Americans with a special tribute to the 150th Anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Celebratory recital with Dr. Lourin Plant at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Other cultural events include the 3rd U.S. Colored Troops re-enactment, Tuskegee Airmen, Mary Groce with the story of pioneer pilot Emory Conrad Malick and Dr. Daisy Century as Harriet Tubman."
