West Deptford Skate Park, Rivergate Boat Ramp Open this Weekend

The two openings are an unofficial kickoff to the spring outdoor season.

The mercury may be on a trampoline, but it's undeniably spring—and with that comes outdoor activities once again.

With that, , slated to open Saturday afternoon, and the , which opens at 6 a.m. Sunday, kick off the season, which includes dozens of special events over the next several months.

Skaters will get a refurbished park, after the township rec department finished up a series of repairs, including replacing several boards on the ramps there.

“We feel that it's much safer,” recreation foreman Matt Moore said.

Since that work was done in the offseason, recreation director Greg Ley said the skate park should be open with minimal down time until November, when it closes down for the winter, provided there isn't any vandalism or damage at the skate park.

“It's ready to rock-'n'-roll,” Ley said.

Fees for both the skate park and boat ramp have remained the same for 2012—parking at the boat ramp is $15, and a season pass for the skate park is $15 for West Deptford residents and $30 for non-residents.

Saturday is also the annual at , which begins at 10 a.m. at the athletic fields.
