Tax Aide Volunteers Needed to Assist Low-Income Families

For those who like to learn new talents while they volunteer, the United Way of Gloucester County and the local AARP have just the answer.

Local individuals of any adult age are invited to become AARP Tax Help volunteers to help low, moderate and fixed income families save money on tax return preparation. The Tax Help program offers free tax help to households that cannot prepare their own tax returns.

Volunteers will receive training to be certified by the Internal Revenue Service to prepare basic tax returns. Last year AARP Tax Aid volunteers  assisted tax payers file more than 3,000 federal and state tax returns, saving them $288,000 in preparation fees.
