MacKenna Angert Sets New School Record in Backstroke

The West Deptford senior broke the school record in the first meet of the season.

West Deptford's MacKenna Angert set a new high school record in the 100-meter backstroke today at the first home meet of the season against Pitman.

Angert broke the previous record of 102.10 with a new school best of 102.05.

Angert swims for the Green-Fields Turtles and the Tidewater Aquatic Club in West Deptford, and travels to club meets out of state as well, said her father, Paul.

"She's a hard worker, and the most outgoing person," he said. "She gets along with everybody."

Academics is "a huge part of her commitment," Paul Angert said of MacKenna, an honor roll student who has committed to Shippensburg University
