Summer Road Trip Survival Guide

Five tips for taking the kids on the road this summer.

If you’re planning a road trip with kids this summer the key to reducing the number of times you hear “are we there yet” and retaining your sanity is to keep the kids entertained. Here are five ways to do that:

Pack each child a “carry-on” bag - Pack customized carry-on bags for each child filled with things to read or color, favorite toys and some new things as well. The dollar store or Target’s dollar section is a great source for these items.

Have plenty of snacks – Be sure to have plenty of snacks and drinks to reduce the number of stops you need to make and avoid cranky bellies. Try to avoid sugary snacks – they definitely don’t need the extra energy!

Games – plan some fun and free car games like license plate bingo; tic, tac toe; and hangman. Find free printable games here.

Map it – bring a good old fashioned map and have the kids look for signs to follow your progress. Whoever sees a sign first gets to check it off on the map.

When WiFi is available all Xfinity TV customers can stream more than 18,000 On Demand choices. Internet customers can access thousands of free hotspots throughout the country. Find them at www.comcast.com/wifi or with the Xfinity WiFi app.

With a little planning the road trip can actually be a fun part of your vacation. Happy travels!
