Forte: Lower Taxes Will Attract Business to West Deptford

The following was submitted to Patch by Dennis Forte, Chair of the West Deptford Republican Club.

West Deptford Republicans presented a zero-increase/flat tax to the residents of West Deptford. 

Republican Mayor Ray Chintall, Deputy Mayor Sean Kilpatrick and Committeeman & Financial Chair Sam Cianfarini have demonstrated that not only can our town budgets be trimmed without laying off employees and without cutting essential services, but strong fiscally sound leadership can actually put our communities in a position to reduce taxes.

The people of Gloucester County realize that our communities constantly compete for businesses and residents across the entire Delaware Valley area.  Sadly, Gloucester County communities have not come to that competition with favorable relative property tax rates.

In fact, many competing communities in Pennsylvania and Delaware offer taxpayers lower property tax levels that can approach 50% discounts from what Gloucester County communities currently offer. Why?

West Deptford and Gloucester County have been at the mercy of the same Democratic machine for over twenty years. The end result: unjustifiable taxes, increased debt and a local Democratic party that has been corrupted from its own genuine principles into a party mechanism that keeps party bosses in power at all costs.

The Democratic machine’s stranglehold has plagued many communities throughout Gloucester County where unjustifiable tax increases provide the fuel for ever-increasing dependent party members and corruption of our governments.

With the emergence of the Republican majority in West Deptford, a zero increase in taxes is exactly the type of change residents and businesses have been starving for these past twenty years.

Gloucester County Republican Chairman Kevin Murphy said, “West Deptford Republicans are leading the way, setting the example for all of Gloucester County with their ability to ignore the political games being played with all of our Gloucester County communities.

"Simply put, West Deptford Republicans are focusing on good policy and transcending political partisanship, instead focusing on what our residents deserve. All Gloucester County communities know it just makes sense and good policy to be tax competitive with other Delaware Valley communities.

"Producing a budget for the people of West Deptford that accomplishes a zero tax increase while further positioning to actually reduce taxes is what can make Gloucester County an even greater place to live and work.”

Chairman Murphy went on to say, “West Deptford is a community positioned to reduce taxes for the residents and put a future plan together which adheres to sound fiscal principals by electing committee candidates Jeff Hansen and Jerry Maher this November.

"The voters of West Deptford, both Democrat and Republican, should be proud to have come together and be a part of choosing leadership that continues to deliver policies for the benefit of all the taxpayers not just a select few individuals.”

West Deptford Committeeman and Financial Chair Sam Cianfarini has been instrumental in ignoring the tactics of the Democratic Machine on the dais (DiCarlo and Syzmborski), rallying his colleagues, staff and professionals to deliver this flat tax/zero-increase budget to the residents of West Deptford.

Cianfarini stated, “The movement towards being fiscally sound began with the election of Deputy Mayor Kilpatrick and his lone conservative voice for one full year and was continued with the election of Mayor Chintall and myself.

"We have all witnessed the shenanigans DiCarlo and Syzmborski continue to play with this community. We have risen above that nonsense, are delivering a zero increase and positioning West Deptford to actually reduce taxes in the future. This type of leadership is what West Deptford deserves and we hope this message spreads throughout the entire county.”

West Deptford has rejected the party bosses that have delivered fiscal turmoil to that community. The residents of Gloucester County now have a community, West Deptford, which is developing into a model for more efficient government.

The story of debt, cronyism, mismanagement and abuse in West Deptford, which has been lead by the Democrat machine, shows what can happen when an entire community is misled and only a select few reap any benefit.

Kevin Murphy stated, “It is imperative that West Deptford continue on the sound path to elect Jeff Hansen and Jerry Maher this November. As our friends in West Deptford have demonstrated, good policy always leads to good politics. New beginnings in the public sector can only happen when voters stand up to remove self promoting leaders.

"It is imperative for other Gloucester County towns to rise up and take our towns back. We all must follow West Deptford’s lead for a new beginning by electing Republican candidates across Gloucester County who support sound fiscal policies.”
