Former Thorofare Fire Chief Frank Mansfield Dies

Frank Mansfield, 82, was a long-time member of Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company.

The Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company is mourning the death of a former chief and active company member, Frank Mansfield, who died Nov. 11 at 82 years old.

Mansfield served as chief for 12 years and was a member of the fire company for 50. Married to Claire for 60 years, the couple had four children, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at from 2 to 3 p.m. at McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. A farewell ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m.

A true adventurer, Frank enjoyed life to its fullest. He was often found swinging a golf club, shuffling cards, boating on the Delaware, playing baseball with the Fire Hall volunteers, riding his Harley around town, or simply enjoying time with his family at home. He was an active member of the Thorofare Fire Company for over 50 years and served twelve years as Fire Chief. Frank proudly served the US Navy during the Korean War and dedicated many years as an insulator for his brother's company.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Claire L. (nee Stoll); Devoted father of Jill Ehnbom (John), Jo Ann Kirk (Jeff), Frank, and June Streeper; Loving grandfather of eight; Adoring great grandfather of eleven; Dear brother to the late John T.

Visitation Thursday 2:00 – 3:30 pm at McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ 08096; Farewell Ceremony 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Thorofare Volunteer Fire Department, 400 Crown Point Rd., West Deptford, NJ 08086.
