Community Update

Wellshire is proud to announce plans for its “Fifth Annual Fight B.A.C. Health Awareness Event” on Saturday October 5, 2013. The event raises funds to help relieve stresses for cancer patients – from covering transportation expenses to and from their oncology treatments, to offering them relaxation wherever possible.

For this year’s event – to take place in conjunction with the inaugural “Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Recreation Health, Wellness and Safety Fair” – Wellshire invites the community to participate in a family-friendly 3 mile walk or a 5 mile run and make a donation to the effort. All contributions go directly to the Greater Philadelphia Cancer Foundation / Barbara A. Colameco Transportation Fund.

Wellshire looks forward to an energized gathering of community when the morning activities culminate at General Charles G. Harker School, located on Oldmans Creek Road, where an interactive education in health, wellness and safety will be offered. Dr. Rene Rubin, Director of Multidisciplinary Tumors at Hahnemann/Drexel Medical School, is always on-hand to provide cutting edge information on cancer detection, prevention and treatment modalities through an open question-and-answer forum.

The Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Recreation Committee is excited to bring area health and wellness providers together for the free event - scheduled to take place inside the school from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - to share with the community details about the top-notch resources available to Gloucester County residents.

Among the activities slated to take place that day are a “Scavenger Hunt” where participants visit various booths, a “Bike Rodeo” where youngsters can learn tips to ride safely and health screenings.
