Letter: DiCarlo Has Leadership Skills for Committee

To the Editor:

I am writing to endorse Denice DiCarlo for the West Deptford Township Committee. 

I have known Denice for more than 10 years. In 2002, I hired Denice at Comcast Corporation into the Corporate Accounting Department and she quickly advanced. She was my lead manager and we had a team of 16 professionals. In 2003, the vice president of financial reporting hired Denice to lead the Corporate Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 implementation. She was responsible for ensuring compliance of all corporate processes by year-end 2004. In 2006, I asked Denice to again join my new team at PBS KIDS Sprout, a Comcast joint venture, as my accounting lead. As always, Denice quickly advanced to vice president and controller. Finally, in 2010, the CFO of the Comcast Programming Group asked Denice to lead the NBCU/Comcast system integration.

Like everything Denice does, she looked at this project as an opportunity. She completed this assignment in 2011 and came back to Sprout where continues to help us grow our audience and our business. Denice is recognized as a leader by all of us at Sprout and our colleagues at NBCU/Comcast. She is a valued member of the Sprout Senior Leadership Team. 

Over the 10 years I have known her, I obviously have had the opportunity to observe Denice’s leadership effectiveness. The roles described above require Denice to not only have a natural aptitude for leadership, but also demand that she continually enhance her core leadership abilities, while developing superior technical and project management skills. 

Denice is an exceptional and effective leader. In my opinion, she possesses two key ingredients required to be an effective leader. First, Denice leads by example. Denice is an extremely hard working individual. She expects the same or more from herself, than she does from her staff. Denice consistently demonstrates an unwavering commitment to providing outstanding service and completing her assigned projects. 

Second, and maybe more importantly, for Denice, people always come first. Denice demonstrates a sincere concern for the specific needs and development of the people she has the responsibility to lead. She creates an extremely positive and collaborative environment for the team to operate to obtain maximum results. 

In summary, Denice DiCarlo has an innate gift for leadership. This talent, coupled with her dedication and concern for the individual, provides an exceptional formula for a successful leader and what we want to see in all our publicly elected officials. I can think of no better person to be elected to the West Deptford Township Committee.
