West Deptford republicans: A Pattern Of Poor Performance

It is widely believed that the best indicator of future behavior is past behavior. Based on their last two years behind the wheel, the current Republican majority deserves to have their driving privileges REVOKED, let alone renewed!  Their new political literature reminds us that “it’s time for “leaders”, not politicians. I completely agree, but could someone please tell me where they’ve been, and when exactly these leaders are scheduled to show up?

Consider these examples of Republican “leadership”:

-They gutted the township’s surplus funds & other departmental budgets in a gimmick attempt to introduce a flat-tax budget for 2013, which turned out to be a flat-out lie. Taxes indeed went up, just look at your bill.

-They reneged on a promise to assist a charity by voting NOT to refund a RiverWinds usage fee to an organization that held a benefit for a young boy with cancer.

-They ordered township employees to remove fundraising signage for a deceased West Deptford officer’s family, Alex’s Lemonade, and even youth soccer registrations. Talk about misguided priorities!

-They spent $40,000 on nothing more than a Powerpoint presentation with a marketing company they “found on the internet”. To add insult to injury, they then voted to renew their affiliation with this company & pay them a 15% commission on future revenue generated for the township. WD residents have not seen penny one, return on investment to date.

-They have made numerous appointments of campaign donors, and party members to paid positions within, and outside the township. See: Brenda Sprigman (CFO), Michelle Hack (Asst. Twp. Clerk), Mark Cimino (Legal), Anderson, Jackson, Metts (Insurers), Pennoni Assoc. (Engineers), Capehart & Scatchard, (The firm of our current Solicitor), and the list goes on..

-They botched multiple revenue opportunities to bring new businesses & ratables into the township. From mishandling a simple juice bar at RiverWinds, to being simply out- worked, and out-smarted by another municipality on a well known outlet shopping center, their inexperience has cost us all, dearly.

 - They politically interfered in the promotion of the new Chief of Police, and deputy chief in what was a brazen attempt to maintain influence, and control over the department. Despite the fact that Chief DiSimone was more than qualified, and highly regarded by past chiefs as well, the mayor continued to delay his appointment without justification until nearly 40 officers came out to show their support at a recent township meeting.

Does this track record demonstrate LEADERSHIP to you?

One only needs to review their past behavior, and progress of their 20 point plan campaign for perspective on how this administration will lead us going forward.  http://www.wdrealtruth.org/20-point-plan-20-point-sham/.  Activity is not an acceptable substitute for Productivity. Their campaign promise to reduce the township debt started in 2011, when the amount was $142 million, and now, after 2 years in office, what is the debt? $142 million. I suppose if they never do anything about it, they can continue to campaign on reducing it!

It is time for “real leaders” to step up & move the township in the right direction again. Let’s elect Jim Robinson Jr. & Adam Reid, to join Denice DiCarlo for a committee that that will do more than make plans and appoint committees. They will implement creative ideas, and work to restore the pride in West Deptford. http://www.wdpride.com/

Remember November 5th…Just like your car, it’s(D) to go forward & (R) to backwards.
